What is "Nechama's List" | ||||||
Nechama's List is an update of the original database compiled by Nancy Hilton and entitled Jewish Records in the Family History Library Catalog. This original work can be viewed at http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/fhlc. This original work is now updated in Nechama's List.
Nechama's List contains a detailed description of over 600 titles of newly filmed Jewish records which were added to The Family History Library Catalog in Salt Lake City, Utah between January 8, 2001 and November 8, 2006. Nechama's List, if printed, would fill a book with 423 pages of text. This library is a department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These new titles and descriptions are on microfilm or microfiche format and some are books. Nechama's List, while written in English, shows the title in the original language as set forth in the Family History Library (FHL) Catalog. If Nechama's List were published as a book it would fill 457 pages of text. The CD version of Nechama's List has also been given to all the members of the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) located throughout the world. The records themselves, some of which are huge documents containing tens of thousands of names, are not included in Nechama's List. Nechama's List includes only a description of the records and where any genealogist can find them. Nechama's List is not intended to be a replacement for the Family History Library Catalog. The purpose of this List is to familiarize the researchers with the new materials available for research and to maximize their ability to use the resources in the Family History Library system. ![]() |
